We will always remember

It was a sobering evening this past Saturday as news broke over the death of singer/celebrity Whitney Houston.

I was sitting on the couch watching the game when a friend turned to me and directed my attention to her twitter feed, where tweets were pouring in with emotional messages about the star.

Sure enough, after turning on the local news, we got the official word and went about the evening sharing stories about our memories of Houston.

We can all surely remember her acting alongside Kevin Costner in the 1992 film, The Bodyguard, and of course, the hit single released with the motion picture, I will always love you.

Whitney Houston also had her challenges with ex-husband Bobby Brown; the two were regularly in the news and eventually separated, leading to Houston getting back on track.

After a brief comeback a few years ago, Houston stayed out of the spotlight until the news struck of her death on Saturday.

The passing leaves many people stricken with grief.

Below, share your most fond memory of her, and let us all remember how wonderful she really was.

Rest In Peace, Whitney Houston.

To all of our loved ones

Valentines Day is here. And if you have yet to find that perfect gift for your sweetheart, it’s time to pull up your socks and get to work.

But this post isn’t about your loved ones. It’s about you.

Now, I will try not to get too mushy, but we spend a lot of time together and that’s something I never want to take for granted. Over the past few years, a lot of us have become very close. Especially since we’ve started our blog.

I wanted to take this moment to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day and a happy and prosperous 2012. Each and every one of you mean so much to me.  I hope we can continue hanging out and spending time together for years to come.

Thank you, all.

xo

Social Media Week

Well, it’s that time of year. All the Social media lovers from around the world are meeting up to talk about the future of online conversation… something I’ve been looking forward to for a while.

It’s taking place in 12 cities around the world (Including Toronto, NYC, San Francisco & Washington DC in North America) . There is a lot to get excited about. The event is driven by culture and social change over most major industries. Whether you have a small business, just like to play online, or you fancy yourself a bit of an online guru; this week is for you.

Now, my job this week will be to find out all of the new and cool stuff that will be happening in the near future, and bring it to i-Say. How are contests handled online? What kind of cool new ways are being introduced for rewards and prizes? These are just a few of the questions I will be asking at some of the conferences this week.

Have an idea or want to join in?

You can visit the site here and register, or follow them on Twitter here.

The case of the three-day indigestion

It’s now been three days.

We consumed chili, 7-layer dip, pulled pork sandwiches, pizzas, soda, salsa, guacamole, nacho chips, homemade coleslaw, fruit and cake.

It was a belt loosening Super Bowl party. And that is putting it nicely.

Now, I’m normally a pretty good eater. I eat all my veggies, don’t eat much meat, and stay away from processed and fatty foods. But it was the Super Bowl, and I was in the mood to be bad.

Now, I have a nasty case of indigestion and can’t seem to shake it. Oh…. And before I continue, it was worth it (this time).

I looked up some treatments (Internet, you never seem to fail me) and came across some natural home remedies from Best Health that may come in handy after your next big party.

Take a look below!

Ginger is justifiably famous for setting stomach upset and improving digestion.

You can take capsules with meals, eat some candied ginger or brew up a cup of

ginger tea.

Camomile is an age-old treatment for indigestion. It calms the stomach and

soothes the intestinal tract. Drink a few cups of the tea during the day or take the

tincture up to three times a day.

Peppermint oil soothes intestinal muscle spasms and helps prevent nausea. Take one to two capsules containing 2 mL (1 tsp.) of oil three times a day between meals.

If you prefer a cup of tea, then steep 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried peppermint in a

cup of hot water. You can drink it hot or cold.

Note: If you have heartburn, peppermint is NOT the solution for you.

Need a few more options?

Who wins: Jerry or Ferris?

The Super Bowl is only a few days away, and some of the now infamous Super Bowl commercials are starting to find their way on to the Internet.

In the spirit of competition, I would like to propose that we take a vote and see which one of the following commercials we think is better.

I’ll write out the things that could make one a clear cut winner, but just go with your gut feeling on this one.

The product doesn’t matter – and neither does the length.

Both commercials have a celebrity appearance and a few surprises.

One touches on history (a character we loved when we were younger) and the other a comedy icon.

So here they are! Jerry Seinfeld versus Ferris Bueller.

Commercial versus Commercial.

Which one will you decide?

Jerry

Ferris

We’re just a bunch of kids

This past weekend I was lucky enough to get out of the city and into the wild during a visit to a friends cottage. We spent our time cooking, reading and enjoying the winter weather, which included a good old-fashioned snowball fight.

Now, I’m not sure about you, but it has been years since I last packed snow into my gloves and fired it at a target. Something I wasn’t sure I’d ever do again. I guess we all have those moments where we decide to relive our childhood, one snowball at a time.

It all started when we tried to get our car out of the driveway so we could go into town and restock on groceries. 3 of us were pushing the car, one person steering and one person directing (while our other friends watched from the sidelines). All of a sudden a snowball whistled past our heads… and it was game on.

The group of us all scattered, picking up snow and packing it into balls before firing back at any target we could see. This went on for a good fifteen minutes before we all called a truce and got back to our main goal; getting the car out of the driveway.

Over dinner, we reminisced on how much fun we all used to have as kids and it got me thinking. What childhood game do you miss most? I was always really good at hide and seek, but snowball fights were a lot of fun.

Comment below and tell me your story. What childhood activity do you miss most now that you’re all grown up?

And next time you’re out in the snow, perhaps it will be you that builds a snowman or starts a snowball fight. Because after all, there’s a kid in all of us!

Super Bowl XLVI: What’s Your Prediction?

The Super Bowl is almost upon us. This year, the playoffs have been nothing short of nail biting and we here at i-Say wouldn’t want it any other way.

Our Playoff pool has been less than impressive, with most people getting knocked out when Green Bay dropped their game against the surging New York Giants. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have our hunches as to who will win the big game next Sunday.

Being played in Indianapolis (for the first time no less), Super Bowl 46 will be played in the northernmost American city since Detroit in ’06. But what will the outcome be?

We all know the Patriots. Tom Brady and his offense are seasoned veterans (we all remember the 3 rings they won in four years between 2001-2005). Then in 2007, the Pats were defeated in Super Bowl XLII by none other than the New York Giants, who shocked the Football world by upsetting a New England Team that had won their first 18 games of the season. This year they are back and looking for revenge.

And who can forget Payton Manning’s not so little brother, Eli. This highflying offense, led by Eli, has had its difficulties since their impressive win in ’07. Late season collapses and personnel changes made it a tough time for fans… that is, until this season.

After an average start, the Giants picked up their gameplay (that included a 24-20 victory over the Pats in Foxborough) and have found themselves within reach of their second Super Bowl ring in 6 years.

So, i-Say members… Who’s going to win?

Have your say in the comments below.
