I recently purchased an automatic coffee maker. You know the kind. Insert a mini disk, press a button and one minute (or less) later; you’re drinking a fine cup of coffee.
At first glance, I was skeptical. Call me old fashioned but I like a fresh cup whenever I get the chance. Growing up, we never had instant – so the idea of using anything but fresh ground just didn’t compute when I heard about automatic machines.
I wasn’t necessarily convinced until I had a latte made for me over the holidays. Not only was it delicious, but it also tasted just as good (or better) than a homemade, fresh brew.
That’s all I needed to know. I utilized the “New Year” sales and managed to find a discounted one (40% off). I brought it home along with a plethora of coffee disks.
Now I’m not sure about you, but I need my morning brew. Over the course of the year, I even take advantage of all the special caffeinated drinks they custom make in my local coffee shops.
I don’t want to compare myself to a zombie when I wake up, but it’s been openly discussed that a morning coffee goes a long way.
Luckily, I now have a quick and easy solution to my morning ritual. Now, this isn’t to say I’d like everyone to rush out and grab a coffee machine. Rather, I’d like to hear about how you drink your coffee. From your local coffee shop? Perhaps you brew yours fresh or use instant? Comment below and share your coffee story. Then go enjoy a fresh cup.
You deserve it

We have had a Keurig for two years and enjoy the single cups. Before getting one, we went through coffee makers in six months. My partner drinks decaf and I drink extra bold. Nothing like the first fresh cup in the AM. Black Magic has the most heavenly smell in the morning and that is important. I have tried many of the different varieties and also enjoy the teas at night.

We have been drinking instant Nescafe for 40 yrs. When we’ve been away for a visit, we always say “Now let’s have a cup of real coffee.” We just can’t get used to drip. Enjoy your new coffee maker!!

My husband I like Trader Joe’s Ethiopian coffee. We buy the beans and use a burr grinder to grind it fresh every morning. We have one of those single cup makers at m office, but I have yet to use it because i drink a mug of coffee on the way to work and don’t need/want another cup of coffee during the day. I have thought about buying a single cup maker and by the reusable filter so I can use my own coffee, but my Bunn makes a whole pot in a couple of minutes so I could easily make one cup.

Caution to anyone with allergies. If you have one of these types of coffee makers at work don’t use it if you are allergic to nuts. The person before you may have used a hazelnut coffee and the remnants left behind in the spout could kill you .. even if you put in a cup of your own blend.

I really miss the smell of fresh perked coffee, the old fashion way, the silver perk a later with the glass nop on the top.where can I still get one , army navy store ltd, in new west use to sell them ,much like the toaster with the ‘slots ‘on both sides a fire waiting to happen

if you really want the old fashioned “perk pot” there are several catlog & online companies which specialize in older, hard to find items like that. I’ll bet vermont country store has them. I really prefer Melitta-style drip myself, no perking, just pour & go. Use good quality coffee 7 you get a good cuppa.

Keurig rocks! Going on 3 yrs now with mine. Don’t use the K-cups since I love Starbucks Italian Extra Bold. I buy the beans & grind about a third of the bag at a time & keep it in a small OXO container. I buy the small paper filters & place them in the reusable screen filter to make my coffee. Easier to dispose the grinds. I love getting a fresh cup every time I want one & the smell is intoxicating. To the person who still likes the perculators, you can find them at Bed, Bath & Beyond.
