Charity of the Month: Trees For The Future

Since 1989, TREES has assisted community groups, schools, international organizations, and Peace Corps volunteers to begin environmentally sustainable projects for economic development throughout the world. We have been successful because we work with communities that understand the value of planting trees to restore their degraded lands. These communities are willing to offer land and labor in exchange for materials, seeds and training in sustainable land management techniques.

Accomplishments

Over the past 20 years, Trees for the Future has:

• Planted trees in over 30 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas

• Collaborated with nearly 10,000 communities (over 180,000 families)

• Planted over 65 million trees!

• Each year, these trees remove more than 2.2 million tons of carbon dioxide from the Earth’s atmosphere
